“H2k.Thermaltake” wins 2nd
place in CPL Nordic 2006–
What an exciting news!! H2k.Thermaltake
team won the 2nd place at the CPL Nordic
2006. H2k.Thermaltake really proved
that seeding doesn’t have an impact on
the team; the team started the
tournament as underdog (seeded 15th in
16 teams) and ended it like hero.
Despite being the 2nd place winner,
H2k.Thermaltake proved to be a world
class team and a team of the future by
beating #6 team in the world “Made in
Brazil” in the quarter final. At the
same time, #5 team in the world
“69°N-28°E” and the legendary “SK” team
both finished behind H2k.Thermaltake in
this tournament.
CPL (Cyberathlete Professional League)
is the world's first videogame sports
league and has been the major force in
the transformation of videogame
competitions to a professional sport.
This year, CPL Nordic 2006 was held
during Dreamhack, which is the worlds
largest LAN-party with thousands of
participants. There were 7752
participants (excluding visitors) at
Dreamhack this year, and Guinness Book
of World Records was there to document
it for this new world record.
CPL Nordic 2006 started on Nov. 30th
and ended on Dec. 3rd. There were16
skilful professional teams battling for
four days and only one team could win
the ticket to CPL 2006 Championship
Finals in the USA. On the final day, it
was Nip and H2k.Thermaltake going head
to head. Two teams engaged intensely for
hours, unfortunately H2k.Thermaltake
wasn’t able to go all the way and win
the ticket to Dallas, Texas in the USA;
yet it was still a glorious moment for
the team.
